What happens when you challenge eight-year-olds to come up with their dream sausages? You get Taco Brats, Spaghetti Brats and Pizza Brats. Each year Frohling Meats invites local third graders to participate in a competition to come up with new sausages to join its full line of bold and bodacious bratwurst. Imagine sinking your teeth into these sweet and savory flavors: macaroni and cheese; pineapple; sauerkraut; dill pickle; spicy mozzarella; green onion; and cheesy hash brown. For an additional meat infusion, try jalapeno bacon or buffalo jerky brats. My favorite flavor for breakfast: eggs stuffed directly into the sausage casing. Now that’s convenience. -Denise Shoukas
