Plum Daisy - Colorado Mountain Organic Mixed Berry Jam

2011 Gold Award Winner: Outstanding USDA Certified Organic Product

The passionate folks at this mom-and-pop operation call themselves fruit growers first, jam makers second. With the purchase of apricot, peach and plum orchards in Palisade, Colo., in 1998, Colorado Mountain Jams & Fine Wine Jellies was born.

With depleted, overworked soil, the orchards needed time and energy before they could produce quality fruits. The business used organic materials and followed sustainable practices to revive the land and work its way toward USDA Organic certification, which it has since earned.

The Plum Daisy production kitchen is located right among these organic orchards. When searching for a source for its Organic Mixed Berry Jam, the jam makers reached out only to farmers they knew personally, with generations of experience. Blueberries and raspberries from farmers in Washington state and strawberries from Southern California became the primary ingredients in this fruit jam.

Organic fruit picked at peak freshness means little sugar is needed for rich flavor. Cooked in small batches, Colorado Mountain uses a small amount of organic evaporated cane juice, making this a low-calorie jam.—Eva Meszaros

How to Enjoy It: Use it as a spread on breads, french toast, waffles and pancakes; as a filling in crepes and croissants; as a topping for cheesecake or ice cream; or mixed into cottage cheese, yogurt or smoothies.

MSRP: $6/8 oz. jar
