Qirtalla making is an ancient tradition that persists in a few villages in the Ramallah and Jerusalem areas. The crafters are olive growers who use the annual olive tree pruning to weave twig baskets of great strength and beauty.
Canaan Fair Trade is a social entrepreneurship firm dedicated to artisan-quality products based in Jenin, Palestine. The company sources its agricultural products from a network of 49 cooperatives organized in the Palestine Fair Trade Association with membership of 1,700 farm families. Canaan products are certified Fair Trade, USDA organic and are found in specialty and organic shops throughout the U.S. and Europe.
