Brands of Britain - Fever-Tree Ginger Ale
2011 Gold Award Winner: Outstanding Cold Beverage
user ratingThe co-founders of U.K. company Fever-Tree, Tim Warrillow and Charles Rolls, are seriously dedicated to quality ingredients. Their search has led them to remote regions of Africa, such as the Rwanda Congo border, where they encountered roadblocks and armed men on the way to a quinine plantation, and the Ivory Coast, where they source and harvest fresh ginger—and faced giant rats in their beds at night.
Their perseverance and sense of adventure has paid off. For the second year in a row, Fever-Tree has taken home a sofi Gold for Outstanding Cold Beverage, this time for the Fever-Tree Ginger Ale.
Made with a fresh green ginger from the Ivory Coast, earthy/chocolaty ginger from Cochin, India, and hot Nigerian ginger, the drink is blended with pressed ginger botanicals. The clean flavor with mild citrus notes makes Fever-Tree Ginger Ale a perfect mixer for brown spirits such as whiskey. “Ginger is a flavor enhancer,” Rajeski explains. “Fever-Tree Ginger Ale was developed to bring out the smoky and peaty notes of great whiskies. This is why mixologists use it for mixing with premium whiskey.”—Nicole Potenza Denis
How to Enjoy It: It’s refreshing on its own, or stir it into your favorite brand of whiskey or gin.
