Centuries-old production technique yields high-protein treat.

Pint-size champions need their fuel. So move over Wheaties, here comes Chobani (www.chobani.com), an all-natural, low-fat Greek yogurt for kids. Greek yogurt has been a trend with adults for its authentic taste and health properties. Now flavors like Verryberry, Strawbana, Goneynana and Chocolate make it easier to appeal to the younger set.

Made by AgroFarma, one of the largest yogurt manufacturers in New York State, Chobani works with artisan yogurt maker Mustafa Dogan, who custom blends special yogurt cultures exclusively for the company. Chobani sources milk daily from local farms to make the yogurt. (Interesting fact: It takes three pounds of milk to make one pound of Chobani.) Unlike some Greek yogurt companies that add thickening agents, gelatins or stabilizers for texture, Chobani uses a centuries-old straining technique to remove excess liquid, creating a thick and creamy yogurt packed with two times more protein that regular varieties. The 2 percent low-fat yogurt comes in multi-packs of six 4-ounce packages, making it easy to take on-the-go. It contains real fruit, is gluten-free, kosher certified, and has no artificial flavors or preservatives.—Denise Shoukas
