Moveable, Seasonal Dinners
Ever wanted to eat in a sea cave?
user ratingWho isn’t intrigued to try the newest eating adventure? Jim Denevan, chef and founder of Outstanding in the Field presents moveable, seasonal feasts intended to re-connect diners to the land and the origins of their food, and to honor local farmers and food artisans. A typical meal can be hosted on farms, in gardens, on mountaintops, in sea caves, on islands or at ranches. Food is served on a long table, family style, with wines paired to each dish. Ingredients are sourced locally and usually prepared by a star chef.
These extraordinary meals grew out of his “farmer dinners,” which took place during the mid 1990s at Gabriella Café in Santa Cruz. Denevan would invite local farmers to preside over special meals featuring their just-picked harvest. Since 1999, Outstanding in the Field has hosted 75 events in meaningful locales, and is venturing out of North America this year.
