Organic Brown Mekong Flower Rice™
user rating
This popular Cambodian Jasmine rice is called 'Phka Malis,' which means jasmine flowers. Leaving the germ and bran layer intact intensifies its fragrance and nutty flavor while retaining the highest nutritional value. This nourishing whole grain rice has a lovely supple texture--unlike the chewy and bland taste of some brown rice.
Grown by small family farmers using water saving practices called SRI (system of rice intensification). We call it More Crop Per Drop™ since it enables some of the world’s most marginalized farmers to double their yields using 50% less water, 90% less seed, and no agrochemical inputs.
Lotus Foods supports sustainable global agriculture by promoting production of traditional heirloom rice varieties, many of which may otherwise have become extinct, while enabling small family rice farmers to earn an honorable living. In 2008, after 13 years in business, Lotus Foods embarked on an expansion of its social and environmental commitment by partnering with Cornell International Institute for Food, Agriculture and Development. It embraced a new more sustainable methodology for growing rice called System of Rice Intensification, which enables the world’s most marginalized farmers to double their yields using 50% less water, 90% less seed, and no agrochemical inputs.
