LorAnn's Natural Shea Butter is an ivory-colored, natural plant butter derived from the nut of the African karite tree. It is an excellent moisturizer and skin protectant, absorbing rapidly into the skin without leaving a greasy feeling. It is also known as an anti-inflammatory agent and can be effective at treating burns, rashes, severely dry skin, chapped lips, stretchmarks and wrinkles. Shea butter is known to provide natural UV sun protection (up to SPF 6) , although the level of protection is variable.
Shea butter is found in many high end moisturizing skin products. It is also used in hair conditioners to add and maintain moisture in dry brittle hair, in addition to revitalizing and preventing breakage.
