Green tea has long been touted for its many health benefits, from antioxidant healing power to digestive regulation. Tea Forté chose to highlight its contribution to heart health in creating Teas for the Heart, in support of the 42 million American women living with, or at risk for, heart disease.

As a supporter and campaign partner for WomenHeart, The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease, Tea Forté has committed to improving awareness of preventive and early-detection measures that could save lives. Teas for the Heart was introduced in February 2011 for American Heart Month.

Tea Forté founder Peter Hewitt has said that the company hoped “to remind women, especially younger women, how to live a more well-balanced, heart-healthy life.” The company notes that 60 percent of younger women, ages 20 to 39, have one or more of the risk factors associated with developing heart disease. Heart disease itself is the No. 1 killer of American women.

The heart-shaped gift box, decorated with floral-themed art, comes in two sizes: the large box holds 12 tea infusers in four green varieties, Green Mango Peach, Oasis, Moroccan Mint and Jasmine Green; the small box has five infusers, one each of the aforementioned flavors, plus Sencha.
