user ratingLooking to spice up your life, or at the very least, your dinner repertoire? Take a look at McCormick Flavor Forecast 2009 to get inspired. In it, the spices, herbs and seasonings giant predicts the top-ten flavor duos expected to appear on menus across America this year as well as interesting recipes. One example: Cayenne and tart cherries. A recipe combines Toasted Sesame and Root Beer these two antioxidant-rich ingredients with slow-cooked pulled pork for Spicy Pulled Pork in Tart Cherry Sauce with Vanilla Slaw. Cayenne brings an underlying heat to the dish while dried cherries add a sweet and sour balance. Another duo, garam masala and pepitas, mixes an aromatic spice blend from India with the mild flavor of pepitas (pumpkin seeds) in Pepita-Crusted Halibut with Blood Orange Jicama Chutney. Meanwhile, rosemary and fruit preserves gives a favorite herb center stage in the final course when used in Warm Rosemary Brie Cake with Peach Preserves.
