Tate's Bake Shop - Whole Wheat Dark Chocolate Cookie

2011 Gold Award Winner: Outstanding Cookie
user rating
5.0 out of 5 stars(1)

“The philosophy behind Tate’s Bake Shop is creating products that produce warm memories of the past, with simple pure ingredients and style that reminds people of home,” says Kathleen King, owner of the renowned bakery in East Moriches, N.Y.

King grew up on a farm near Southampton, N.Y., and by age 11 was selling cookies from her family’s farm stand. Today, from her own Victorian-style shop, she sells a selection that includes pies, squares, baskets and cookie towers in an assortment of flavors such as Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin and White Chocolate Chip Macadamia Nut.

These products are cult favorites in the Hamptons and have become national favorites as well through King’s brand, Tate’s Baked Goods, which includes this year’s Outstanding Cookie Winner, Whole Wheat Dark Chocolate Cookie. The whole-wheat flour used in this variety makes for a lighter version of Tate’s classic chocolate chip cookies.

“This cookie is light, crisp and buttery, with deep-dark chocolate chips and just a hint of earthiness from the flour,” says King. The sofi is one of several accolades received by Tate’s Bake Shop, which has been recognized by Every Day with Rachael Ray magazine for its chocolate chip cookie, among others.

The success of Tate’s doesn’t mean a compromise in product quality or integrity. “We are a cookie company specializing in all-American, all-natural, scratch-made baked goods,” King asserts. “All our products have the unmistakable taste of homemade.” —Leska Tomash
